Auditions - No Time For Sergeants

Theatre of Dare is excited to announce the upcoming auditions for its Spring 2008 production of "No Time For Sergeants".

Join the hilarious misadventures of hillbilly Will Stockdale, drafted into the U.S. Air Force, as he combines crushing naivity, stubbornness, a completely literal mind, and amazing physical strength. Will the Air Force survive the experience? "No Time For Sergeants" was Andy Griffith's breakthrough role on stage and screen, and was the inspiration for such shows as "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C."

Audition dates are Monday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 8th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the conference room at the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills. Call backs will be held on Tuesday, January 15th.

This play calls for a cast of 33 men and 1-3 women. Rehearsals will not start until sometime in February, but due to cast size, auditions are taking place in early January.

All men and teenagers who look at least 18 are invited to attend the auditions. Many actors have the possibility of doing multiple roles.

For further information please contact the director, Sheila Diehm at 252-256-1712 or by email at lovetosing3@msn.com

Shows You've Seen & Been Involved With

Hey all! I wanted to make a post about Theatre of Dare shows you've seen or been involved with, and what you thought. The first TOD show I saw was Little Shop in February 2006 (which was fantastic!), and then I acted in Meshuggah-Nuns in October 2006 and Rumors in May 2007. I also went to see Cemetery Club between those two shows.

Please feel free to comment back about your Theatre of Dare experiences!

Jason :)

P.S. I've started the same discussion over at our MySpace Blog as well.

Announcing Our New Season!

The Theatre of Dare, your community theatre of the Outer Banks, is proud to announce our 17th production season. This year, patrons will be treated to two wonderful shows.

The season will begin with the magical musical "Peter Pan" in late November, directed by Gene Webster. Enjoy the fantastical story of the boy who never wanted to grow up, and his adventures with the Darling children in Neverland, battling pirates and Indians. Gene Webster has previously directed such shows as "Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Pajama Game" for Theatre of Dare. Auditions for Peter Pan are scheduled for mid-September, with roles for 40-50 children and several adults.

In late April, they will present "No Time For Sergeants" directed by Sheila Diehm. Join the hilarious misadventures of hillbilly Will Stockdale, drafted into the U.S. Air Force, as he combines crushing naivety, stubbornness, a completely literal mind, and amazing physical strength. Will the Air Force survive the experience? "No Time For Sergeants" was Andy Griffith's breakthrough role on stage and screen, and was the inspiration for such shows as "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C." Sheila Diehm made her Theatre of Dare directorial debut with "Meshuggah-Nuns!" last season.

All performances will be held at the COA/Old Manteo Middle School Auditorium. You can purchase tickets in advance or at the door to any one show, but your best value is to purchase a season ticket. To reserve your season ticket now, e-mail theatreofdare@yahoo.com or call (252) 261-4064 and leave a message.

Be sure to visit our website at theatreofdare.org for the latest updates. You can also register online to win show tickets by joining our e-mail list. You'll receive the latest show and audition information right in your inbox, and be entered into ticket giveaways for each show of the season.
