The Theatre of Dare, your community theatre of the Outer Banks, is proud to announce our 17th production season. This year, patrons will be treated to two wonderful shows.
The season will begin with the magical musical "Peter Pan" in late November, directed by Gene Webster. Enjoy the fantastical story of the boy who never wanted to grow up, and his adventures with the Darling children in Neverland, battling pirates and Indians. Gene Webster has previously directed such shows as "Little Shop of Horrors" and "The Pajama Game" for Theatre of Dare. Auditions for Peter Pan are scheduled for mid-September, with roles for 40-50 children and several adults.
In late April, they will present "No Time For Sergeants" directed by Sheila Diehm. Join the hilarious misadventures of hillbilly Will Stockdale, drafted into the U.S. Air Force, as he combines crushing naivety, stubbornness, a completely literal mind, and amazing physical strength. Will the Air Force survive the experience? "No Time For Sergeants" was Andy Griffith's breakthrough role on stage and screen, and was the inspiration for such shows as "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C." Sheila Diehm made her Theatre of Dare directorial debut with "Meshuggah-Nuns!" last season.
All performances will be held at the COA/Old Manteo Middle School Auditorium. You can purchase tickets in advance or at the door to any one show, but your best value is to purchase a season ticket.
